EMAIL WARNING
I thought this was a big joke until I heard about it on Oprah! Evidently
there's a new "internet crimes" division of the FBI. They're sole purpose is
to monitor the internet usage of the American People. They do this by
tracking e-mail addresses that accumulate as messages are forwarded from
individual to individual. For instance, Person A gets and e-mail and
forwards it to everyone on their distribution list, Persons B-Z. All of
these people can be tracked as are the people they subsequently forward the
message to.
In this manner, the federal government is able to keep tabs of what you think
is funny, what issues you're interested in, what charities you support and
any number of other items that describe your lifestyle. To many, this may
seem like a benign use of government power, but in the wrong hands it could
quickly become a threat to the freedoms we Americans hold dear.
Naturally, no government agency would admit to putting in place this kind of
abuse of our constitutional rights. It is only through the dedicated efforts
of some freedom-loving insiders that this story has seen the light of day.
Therefore, there are only limited things you can do to thwart this insidious
plan.
The best thing to do is to eschew mass e-mails of jokes, polls, consumer
warnings and charity requests. These are the main ways your e-mail habits
are tracked. It's so important to let your friends know that you do not wish
to receive these messages. By reading these messages, you are telling your
government things about yourself you may not want them to know...
Forwarding e-mail jokes suggests that you a sexual deviant. Forwarding polls
suggests you wish to foment disrespect for our institutions. Forwarding
consumer warnings suggests that you're a radical anti-capitalist. Forwarding
charity requests and "warm fuzzy wishes" suggests that you are a
bleeding-heart or, worse yet, a pacifist.
You can still save your friends by deleting these messages rather than
sending them to everyone on your address list, even if you continue to
receive these messages. If you love our country and it's guarantee of
freedom, you will stop these messages in their tracks.
PS. Please forward this message to as many people as possible. Our democratic
way of life is at stake!

People demand freedom of speech to make up for the freedom of thought which
they avoid. - Soren Aabye Kierkegaard
